Hyderabad, July 24 (News Time): The Girls of Forest College and Research Institute makes it to School of Forestry and Wildlife Biology for Post Graduate studies in Auburn University. One more student from FCRI got admission into Prestigious Auburn. Despite the Covid-19 situation across the globe the girls of the B.Sc. Forestry first batch students sparing no effort to make in into the best institutions for higher education in Forestry.

Our chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao vision is giving the results. The Forest College and research institute where the professional forestry education started for the first time in Telangana is moving forward with post-graduation admissions this year. The course began in 2016, the first batch is coming out this year.

The institute administration completed the final semester exams by June 15th and the final year students are gearing up for the PG admissions. The graduation ceremony will be held in due course.

Yet another girl from FCRI Mulugu, Miss Suharsha the final year student of B.Sc. Forestry has made it to the M.S. program in the School of Forestry and wildlife sciences at Auburn University, Alabama. Her specialization will be in wood science technology. The two years of the study program at auburn will be without tuition fees for two years. In addition to waiving off 15000 dollars annual tuition fee, she has been offered a 1500 dollar per month Scholarship for two years. Together for two years, it is worth Rs 50 lakh. Miss Suharsha is one of the top five students of the outgoing batch.

Earlier Miss Surya Deepika got admission into the M.S. program with forest genetics specialization in Auburn University. The Forest College and Research Institute entered into the memorandum of Understanding with Auburn University. Dr. A. Jankiram Reddy Dean school forestry and wildlife biology facilitated their admission. More students are yet to get their admission during the spring.

This apart the final year students are under regular guidance to face all PG entrance examinations to be conducted in the country with an intension to top everywhere. The exams include the Indian Council of Agricultural Research PG entrance exam, Indian Council Forestry Research and Education PG entrance exam, and so on. Looking at the enthusiasm of students the ICFRE sanctioned center for writing PG entrance exam at Hyderabad this year for the first time.

Most of the Girl students are keen on joining at the Forest Research University at Dehradun and are interested in M.Sc. Wood Science and Technology There are 20 students among the first batch who are undergoing civil services coaching on day to day basis under the guidance of Sri. A. Narasimha Reddy DCF. The third-year students are also preparing for the civil services examination from now itself.

The Faculty members are trained by the Faculty from the University of British Columbia Canada in two spells. The design of the new courses and the Research questions identification and syllabus formulation and teaching pedagogy techniques are taught to the faculty. The faculty is currently handling about 20 research projects and the field observation and data collection are in progress I’m Surya Deepika, pursuing a forestry degree from Forest College and Research Institute.

I would like to take this moment to acknowledge Dean of our college Dr.Chandrashekhar Reddy for giving us this opportunity of studying in the US to pursue Masters in my field of interest and also Dr. Janaki Alavalapati, Dean of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences, Auburn University for supporting me in every step of application process till getting admission in the prestigious Auburn University.

This is like my dream come true of pursuing masters from a University that is the epitome in the field of Forestry and Wildlife sciences. I always have a passion to do my part in conserving and protecting wildlife and this great opportunity landed before me to fulfill my passion added with a great amount of knowledge and techniques which can be further used here in India in conserving our wildlife.

In the initial process, I was not ready to take this big step but after huge support from our college Dean and Faculty, I finally reached this stage. I was attached with an excellent advisor there in Auburn University, who is extremely supportive and I’m eagerly waiting to work with her. I’m looking forward to land in there and bag up my brain with magnificent knowledge and come out with flying colors.

Suharsha Baskarla, hailing from a town called Mancherial, recently pursued a Bachelors’s degree in Forestry course from Forest College and Research Institute, Hyderabad. My father is an employee at singareni collieries company limited & mother a homemaker. I’m really glad to choose a professional forestry course as my career, which is first of its kind in Telangana State.

Pursuing higher studies abroad has always been my dream & FCRI gave me an opportunity to move towards my goal. Despite the most challenging times during lockdown, I applied & finally after a long wait for 3 months I made it to the M.S. program in Auburn University – School of Forestry & Wildlife Sciences, Alabama, USA. I’m currently enrolled in the M.S. Forestry(thesis) program with a focus on Forest products specialization under the guidance of two majors – Dr. Brian Via & Dr. Adam Maggard.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Dean of FCRI – Dr. G. Chandrashekar Reddy, Addl PCCF, Hyderabad circle & Dr. Janaki R.R. Alavalapati, Dean of Auburn University for their constant endeavors to help me out with my admission process & make it possible. Also, I couldn’t thank enough all my bachelor’s professors for imbibing considerable knowledge on forestry, my parents, Faculty of FCRI & friends for encouraging me in every aspect.

My strong desire to be a researcher in the field of wood science, this program will enable me to learn scientific management skills of wood for the betterment of society & the environment. I will use the knowledge, skills & expertise I gain during my time at Auburn University to contribute to the forest community.
